The history of Lviv is closely connected with the names of outstanding cultural workers: composers, musicians, singers.

A famous Ukrainian opera singer Solomiya Krushel'nyts'ka (1873-1952) takes proper place among these names. Her lyric-dramatic soprano of unmatched beauty was the voice of three octaves range and the unique phenomenon in the history of opera art.

Her creative destiny let her appear in different countries of the world, sing on the most prestigious stages. She was called "unforgettable Aida", "the only in the world Gioconda", "the ideal Brunhild", "the charming Cio-Cio San". Outstanding composers G. Puccini and R. Strauss expressed their thank-fullness to her for splendid performing of the main parts in their operas.

The S. Krushel'nyts'ka Musical Memorial Museum began its work in 1991. The museum occupies the first floor of house 23, Krushel'nyts'ka Street, which belonged to the singer. This house was built in 1884. The main facade is worked out in the spirit of architecture of historism. It is richly decorated with stucco moulding; the balcony in the first floor decorated with two statuaries in antique style attracts one's attention. There is a memorial plaque on the facade of the house.
